7 Movies From 10 Years Ago That Are Practically Unwatchable, And 6 That Hold Up Pretty Well

It’s been 10 years since some iconic films were released.

And I know 10 years doesn’t seem like a long time, but sooo much has changed.

So let’s look at some 2012 movies celebrating their 10th anniversary this year and see if they hold up.

Content warning: This post contains brief mentions of sexual assault.

1.

DOESN’T HOLD UP — Ted

Mark Wahlberg and Ted sitting on a couch

In his directorial debut, Ted, MacFarlane voices an anthropomorphic and perpetually horny teddy bear.

Ted sitting on a couch with four "hookers" and saying, "I love you girls; you know, somewhere out there are four terrible fathers I wish I could thank for this great night"

2.

HOLDS UP — 21 Jump Street

Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill as cops

3.

DOESN’T HOLD UP — Piranha 3DD

"Remember double D's swim free"

This movie is incredibly disorienting, from the unrealistic characters to the ridiculous dialogue.

Young woman saying "Ashley's my best friend; I mean, I know she's kind of a slut, but" after Ashley disappears

4.

HOLDS UP — American Mary

Med students looking serious in a hospital hallway

5.

DOESN’T HOLD UP — That’s My Boy

Female teacher standing over a male student and leaning on his desk

There’s even a scene where, after the two are caught “having sex,” the auditorium full of students and faculty members cheers…for the CHILD.

Boy raising his arms in triumph in front of a crowd

6.

HOLDS UP — Hotel Transylvania

Animated characters

7.

DOESN’T HOLD UP — Silver Linings Playbook

Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence hugging and looking at each other

8.

HOLDS UP — The Perks of Being a Wallflower

Logan Lerman as Charlie smiling

9.

DOESN’T HOLD UP — American Reunion

Seann William Scott as Steve in a business suit tells a group of women that they'd better be working hard because they weren't hired for their looks, then points to one and says, "Actually, you were," and then says to another, "Not you"

And they’re literally obsessed with teen girls — like, to a gross and very concerning degree.

Jason Biggs as Jim saying, "Is it just me or do girls today seem a bit sluttier?"

10.

HOLDS UP — This Is 40

Leslie Mann and Paul Rudd sitting together

11.

DOESN’T HOLD UP — Project X

Guys says he doesn't see the point of throwing a party anymore, and another guy asks how does he not see the point, and then starts pointing at women's body parts

12.

HOLDS UP — Chronicle

Three young guys sitting in the bleachers of a gym eating and talking and looking at their phones

13.

DOESN’T HOLD UP — Savages

A tormented man with the caption "He's always trying to fuck the war out of himself; I have orgasms — he has wargasms"

But let me know in the comments if you’ve watched all of Savages. Does it hold up? Am I missing anything else on this list?
